Rachel Haynes, Bsc (Hons) Agriculture with Animal Science, has been awarded the Aviagen with BPC scholarship. Rachel, who hails from Lancashire, tended to a small holding with her father from a young age, Rachel found she enjoyed rearing poultry and so it made sense for her to persue a career in that field at Harper Adams before applying to the scholarship.
On being awarded the scholarship Rachel said: "I thank Aviagen for their support and confidence in me and I am delighted to be the successful candidate. I am thrilled to be able to take my first steps into the industry with such a renowned company. I hope to make a positive contribution and become a valuable asset to Aviagen with the prospects of a future career. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank the British Poultry Council for their generosity in funding this scholarship. I feel honoured to be the recipient of this grant which will greatly support my educational expenses so I can focus on gaining a first-class degree."
Rachel was also delights to recieve a letter of commendation from the Chair of the Course Assessment Board recognising all her success during the first year of her studies. These successes included gaining Tractor, telehandler, PA1, PA2 and animal transport qualifications.
